Viola Violet Peters, 89, of Plover, formerly of Amherst, passed away at Whispering Pines on Friday, May 20, 2016.  Viola was born on May 31, 1926, daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Glodowski) Thompson.

On July 12, 1958, Viola was united in marriage to the love of her life, Victor Peters, in Amherst, WI.

Viola loved her children and grandchildren more than anything; they were the light of her life.  She was a member of the St. James Altar Society and also a member of the Tomorrow River V.F.W. Post 11346.  Viola was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan and enjoyed betting her quarters on them.  Viola also enjoyed journaling and baking, and always had cookies to offer when family and friends came to visit.

Viola is survived by: sons James (Cindy) Peters and Jeff (Trudy Beth) Peters; grandchildren Beth (Mike) Bond, and Matt, Kyler, Cole, Sam, and Quinton Peters; and sister Virginia Olson.  Viola is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; sisters Jenny and Mary; and brothers Chet, Ole, Leo, Bob, Ray, and Syl.

A Funeral Mass was held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at St. James Catholic Church, with Fr. Dan Hackel officiating.  Relatives and friends visited at The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst on Monday, May 23, 2016, from 4-8 PM, with a Rosary Service held at 4 PM. Visitation was also on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.

Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery.
