John R. Rosenau, 79, Plover, died at his home Monday, May
30, 2016.


A memorial visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.
Saturday, June 4, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point. Burial, with
full military honors, will be at St. Bronislava Cemetery in Plover.


A memorial will be established in his name for the Humane
Society of Portage County.

Mr. Rosenau was born Sept. 16, 1936, in Oak Lawn, Ill., a
son of the late Robert and Anna (Colburn) Rosenau. As a child his family moved
to Iron Mountain, Mich., and he graduated from high school there in 1954.


He entered the U.S. Air Force June 18,
1954, in Milwaukee. He served until his honorable discharge Dec. 11, 1957,
after earning the Good Conduct Medal.


He returned to Michigan and enrolled in Northern Michigan
University, where he earned an accounting degree with a math minor in 1962.


He was married to Gail Dugas Sept. 5, 1959.


The couple moved their family to Plover in 1967.


He worked for the state of Wisconsin as an auditor for the
Department of Revenue for more than 30 years, retiring in 1994.


Survivors include his wife, Gail, Plover; three children,
Todd (fiancé Sharon) Rosenau, Springfield, Va., Joel Rosenau, Plover, and Kelly
(Neal) Schuh, Plover; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann.
