Photo of the Day: Clearing the Way For Special Athletes

About two dozen police, deputies and support staff members from six local law enforcement agencies pull in after a 14-mile trek from Junction City the Stevens Point courthouse on Thursday.
Portage & Wood Co. deputies along with police departments from Plover, Stevens Point, Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids made the annual trip, stopping to pose for a photo with Special Olympic athletes on the courthouse steps.
The bike ride is part of the annual Torch Run performed by law enforcement throughout the country and across the world.
More than 1,500 athletes will participate in the Wisconsin State Summer Games, with opening ceremonies kicking off Thursday at 7 PM.
This marks the 37th year Stevens Point has hosted the games at UW-Stevens Point.
