Cellcom, Papa Murphy’s Coming to Plover

Officials in the Village of Plover on Monday will vote on two developments in local shopping areas there.
A new Cellcom store is planned for construction near Kohl’s in Crossroads Commons. The department store’s existing parking lot will be split into two lots, according to Richard Holden, community development manager for the village.
“They’re looking to build a new structure in the southwest corner of the existing parking lot,” Holden said of Cellcom.
If approved by the village, the site plan still needs approval from Kohl’s, Lowe’s and Walmart as a part of the covenant created when Crossroads was first constructed. According to Holden, “they have some say in what businesses that are allowed within the development”.
While Cellcom is the latest to approach the village about development in Crossroads, another lot in the shopping complex is slated to begin redevelopment soon. The former Denny’s, located at 1250 Commerce Place will become a new location of Panera Bread. Village leaders granted the conditional use permit to allow to changes to the parking lot and addition of a drive-thru in March, and construction is expected to begin soon.
A new location of Papa Murphy’s is also expected in Village Park, Plover’s south-side shopping center.
The “take and bake pizza” business will add a second location to the north end of the current Quirt Family Dental building, 1819 Park Ave., Holden said.
“That’s going to be a remodel project, where they’ll be adding a drive-thru,” Holden said.
The pizza business has another location at 3409 Main St. in Stevens Point.
No construction dates for either project were immediately available.
