Joyce A. Church
Joyce A. Church, 91, Stevens Point, died Tuesday, June 14,
2016, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20,
at The Springs, United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Howard Hintzman
presiding. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until
the service.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Church was born June 14, 1925, in the town of Lanark, a
daughter of the late Vernon and Jessie (Lea) Soule. She attended Emerson Grade
School in Stevens Point and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. She worked
at a root beer stand during her years in high school.
After graduation, she relocated to Schaumburg, Ill., where
she worked at a movie theatre.
She was married to David Church June 9, 1944, at First
Baptist Church in Stevens Point. He died Dec. 29, 2011.
She began to sell war bonds after the war.
When her husband was discharged from military service, they
settled in the Stevens Point area.
She was a housekeeper.
After their children were grown, she became the bookkeeper
at Church’s Plumbing and Heating until retiring.
She was a member of The Springs, United Methodist Church.
She was also affiliated with the Daughters of the American Revolution, the
Plover Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Holly Shoppe, Grand View Hospital
Auxiliary and AMVETS Auxiliary Post 1051.
Survivors include three children, Dennis (Carol) Church,
Bert Church and Jane (Jim) Waitanek; one son-in-law, Norbert Dalsbo; two
sisters, Dorothy (Mel) Berg and Mavis Smith; nine grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Dalsbo;
and one son, Thomas Church.
