Rita A. Felton, 78, of Plover, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.

She was born on March 21, 1938, in Burlington, to the late R. William and Leona (Wiemer) Rittmann and was a graduate of Thomas Aquinas High School in Waterford. She later graduated from the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Mid-State Technical College. In 1956, she was married to Robert Felton in Waterford. He preceded her in death in 1979.

Rita, a longtime resident of both Wood and Portage Counties, worked as a CNA at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards, retiring in 2004. She had been a member of St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover and she enjoyed gardening, decorating, sewing, flowers, bird watching, travel and she was an avid reader and history buff.

Survivors include her sons and daughters, Charles (Janet) Felton of Wisconsin Rapids, Greg (Shelly) Felton of Fond du Lac, Rhonda Felton of Nekoosa, Debra (Roy) Hopfensperger of Plover, Kelly Felton and Kim (Mike Meddaugh) Ladwig both of Medford; grandchildren, Jeffrey Felton, Nicole (Tim) Meyer, Nathan Felton, Stephanie (Eric) Kuehn, Tim (Teresa) Felton, Lucas (Lynn) Hopfensperger, Ryan (Lauren Liske) Hopfensperger, Sara Ladwig, Jason Felton, Ariel (Paul) O’Mara, Eric Botcher and Kaylyn Smith; great-grandchildren, Logan Meyer, Savannah Drake-Felton, Austen Kuehn, Brody Hopfensperger, Hadley Hopfensperger, Adelyn O’Mara, Lennon O’Mara and Rylan Smith; sisters, Marylee Blodgett, Jeanne (Dave) Ketterhagen, Jayne (Bill) Rice and Georgiann (Dwain) Knapp.

She is further survived by special friends and family: Tim Ladwig; Barb, Pat, Anita, Terry and all her other friends at Maywood Apartments; and all her new friends at Willowbrook on Lilac Lane; CCCW (Dixie and Fawn); Danielle, Bradlee, Jack and Isaac Smith; Taylor and Summer Smith; David Hope and Richard Von Trapp.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rita was preceded in death by her son, Robert William, Jr.; and brother, Ronald Rittmann.

The memorial service for Rita will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Pisarski Community Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2911 Plover Road, Plover. Deacon Vern Linzmeier will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be assisting the family.
