Janice Stella Albertson, 89, Amherst Junction, the widow of
a former president at Wisconsin State University at Stevens Point, now the
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP), died Sunday, June 19, 2016, in
Stevens Point.


A service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Boston
Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in
Amherst.


Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Aug. 29
until the service.


Memorial donations may be made to The Girl Scouts of
America.


Condolences may be offered online at

Mrs. Albertson was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Colorado, a daughter
of the late Dorothy (Grout) Young and Edward Gray and stepdaughter of Stanley
Young. As a young girl, she was an accomplished figure skater who trained at the
Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.


She attended the Art Institute of Chicago, Ill.


She was married to her high school sweetheart, James H.
Albertson.


She moved to Stevens Point in 1962 when her husband was
appointed president of UWSP.


After her husband died in Vietnam in 1967, she went back to
school and graduated from UWSP.


For several years, she worked as an interior designer for
the university.


Survivors include two sons, Steve and Phillip; one daughter,
C.L. (Daniel) Fornari; one brother, Stan Young; one sister-in-law, Rose; and
two grandchildren, Sasha and Simon Fornari.


She was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles and
Richard.
