A 61-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman died Saturday while canoeing on the Lower Plover River, Stevens Point Police have confirmed.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was on a canoe trip along the river going towards Iverson Park, according to Assistant Chief Tony Babl.
Someone with the woman called 911 at 5:02 PM on Saturday, according to police records.
“At some point during the trip she was not feeling good and became unconscious,” Babl said Monday. “Officers were able to get her out of the water right away when they got on the scene.”
