Artistic talents and imaginations are on display and the creative juices are flowing at P.J. Jacobs Jr. High this summer as part of the Stevens Point School District’s Summer Enrichment program.

Watercolors, oil painting, drawing and sketching and Origami are some of the many art creations on display in rooms and the school’s display cases with new works appearing each day.

“It’s a great way to make new friends,” said student Olivia Van Ark.

Students in the classrooms of Karen Schultz and Nanciann Hall are busy creating their own art masterpieces while learning different styles of art to express themselves.

“You have more freedom to imagine, explore, and create new and inventive ways to create your own art masterpieces,” said student Aurora Geesey.

“It’s a pleasure to work with such talented art students,” said Schultz. “We will be taking a trip to the galleries downtown to expose the students to contemporary artists.”

Also planned during the summer program is the annual Chalkfest which will allow the students to create their artwork using colored chalk on the sidewalks around P.J. Jacobs.

Chalkfest is tentatively scheduled for late June or early July with the dates dependent on weather conditions.
