Point native Provisor addresses community prior to 2016 Olympics

On Saturday April 9, 2016, central Wisconsin was highlighted
on the national stage when I won a spot on the United States Olympic
Greco-Roman Wrestling Team at 85kg in Iowa City, Iowa. Imagine, a kid from
Stevens Point, Wisconsin, taking top spot in the USA! That says a lot about the
sports programs and the people who support youth sports in central Wisconsin.
I grew up playing baseball, football and wrestling in central
Wisconsin, and I have seen amazing things that parents, businesses and
community supporters do to keep youth sports alive and vibrant. Every parent
wants their kid to excel in sports, or even go to the Olympics. Each community
hopes its high school team wins a conference or State Championship. It is this
community pride and support that keeps kids physically healthy, emotionally
grounded and provides a framework for teamwork, self-confidence and the ability
to persevere.
I am the product of central Wisconsin youth sports clubs,
high school boosters, and community supporters, and now I am going to represent
every central Wisconsin kid that has a dream to be an Olympian.
I have the opportunity to represent our community and our
country at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this summer, and I
need your support. I am hoping that with your help I will be able to send my
support system, made up of my amazing family and coaches to Rio with me. Some
athletes going to the Olympics have sponsors like Nike, and other deep pocket
companies pay for expenses. Most athletes, like me, rely on the generosity and
support of their community to help meet the financial needs of training for and
going to the Olympics.
I was born and raised here in central Wisconsin, and I
proudly list Stevens Point as the address on my Olympic credentials. I wrestled
for Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) for four years and graduated
in 2009. I currently reside at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs,
Colo., along with my daughter, Evelyn.
I have been doing this sport for the majority of my life. My
mom and dad have sacrificed so much for me. They have been there for all the
pain, sweat, and tears of joy, and also for some of the really tough times.
They are a huge driving force behind helping me realize my dreams. It would
mean a lot to have them in Rio with me to see firsthand what all of their
sacrifice and energy has resulted in.
The funds raised will be used for airline tickets, lodging,
food, ground transportation, and tickets to the wrestling event. Please
consider helping me achieve my dreams. I would be honored with any financial
contribution you can offer to help me. Thank you in advance for your
consideration and generous support.

The “Big Ben Olympic Send-Off” will also be held from 6 to 9
p.m. Thursday July 28, at Rookies Sports Pub in Stevens Point. The Spicy Tie
Band will be performing. They are a six-piece, high energy, rock and roll dance
band. Their music ranges from ’70s through the hits of
today including: funk, Top 40 and rock and roll classics. Please join me in
celebrating my send-off to the Olympics!
Sincerely,
Ben Provisor, 2x Olympian
