Dorothy Reeve, 93, died Thursday, June 23, 2016, at The Atrium Living Facility in Stevens Point.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 27, at Higby-McQuiston Funeral Home in Aurora, Neb.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Monday until the services.
Memorial donations may be given to United Methodist Women’s
group and be sent to her sons or Higby Mortuary, 1404 L St., Aurora, NE 68818.

Mrs. Reeve was born July 30, 1922, near Nelson, Neb., a daughter
of the late Edward and Eva (Bartlett) Rausher. She attended Brown School
through the eighth grade. She graduated from Nelson High School in 1940, where
she took Normal Training and obtained a teaching certificate.
She returned to teach at Brown School for five years and one
year at Grand Prairie.
She was married to Ross Reeve June 18, 1943, in Kearney, Neb.,
where she was attending college while he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He preceded her in death.
Later they farmed in Nuckolls County until 1960 when they
moved to Aurora, Neb., where they operated a dairy farm for 23 years.
In 1983 they retired from the farm and moved into Aurora. She
worked in the dietary department of Hamilton Manor and Memorial Hospital for
four years. She retired to care for her husband.
After his death, she did volunteer work, entertaining at
various nursing homes and organizations with music, readings and devotions.
She served her church in many capacities, including United
Methodist Women’s organization. She had been a member since 1944, served as a
district officer and was honored for various commitments.
She was a member of AARP and was awarded “Member of the
Year” for her community work. She belonged to Extension Clubs for 40 years and
was honored several times for her service and loyalty.
She moved to Stevens Point in 2010 to be closer to her three
sons and their families.
Survivors include three sons, Larry (Kate), Wisconsin
Rapids, Dennis (Tiffany), Stevens Point, and Duane (Amy), Richfield; six
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clare and
Lloyd Rausher; and one sister, Delcie Stowers.
