Local Medical Student Receives Sue Erickson Memorial Scholarship

For the City Times
The 2016 Sue Erickson Memorial Scholarship recipient has been awarded to Jessica Gustavson.
Gustavson, a Rothschild native who completed her undergraduate education at UW-Stevens Point, is a recent graduate of Des Moines University (DMU) medical school and will be starting her psychiatry residency at the University of Kentucky in July 2016.
Jessica has worked with Ministry Health Care clinicians on three rotations in Stevens Point during her fourth year of medical school at DMU. As she begins her residency training, she is ultimately interested in becoming triple boarded – in pediatric, child and adult psychiatry.
The Sue Erickson Memorial Scholarship is established and supported by funds from the Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital medical staff and other donors. The scholarship is offered solely for students completing fourth year rotations/preceptorships with Ministry Health Care in Stevens Point.
Tribute is paid publicly and in perpetuity to Sue Erickson, who was the driving force behind medical education for medical students at Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital. Two $1,500 awards can be distributed each year.
