John J Levi

John Joseph Levi, 61, a Stevens Point native and brother of a
Stevens Point woman, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, in Centennial Colo., where he
resided with his family for the past 21 years.
A celebration of life was held in Centennial, Colo., Sunday,
Jan. 31.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, at St. Stanislaus Church of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, with the Rev. Thomas Lindner officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.

Mr. Levi was born Aug. 30, 1954, in Stevens Point, a son of
the late Judge James H. and Eugenia “Genie” Levi. He attended St. Stephen Grade
School and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1973.
He was married to Carole Knope Sept. 23, 1994, in Stevens
Point.
He had a life-long interest in law enforcement. He graduated
from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1977 with a degree in criminal
justice.
Following graduation, he joined the Waukesha County Sheriff’s
Department as a deputy sheriff. In 1984, he became a special agent with the
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
After serving the FBI for six years in Gulfport, Miss., and
San Francisco, Calif., he joined Environet Inc. as an environmental insurance
claims consultant.
For the past 14 years, he worked for GEICO Insurance in the
Special Investigations Unit (SIU), investigating insurance fraud issues in the
greater Denver area.
He was an accomplished sketch artist and caricaturist.
Survivors include his wife, Carole, Centennial, Colo.; one
daughter, Kellen Wen Levi, Centennial, Colo.; one son, Shane Joseph Levi,
Centennial, Colo.; two brothers, Tom (Jude Christensen) Levi, Watertown, and
Jim Levi, St. Paul, Minn.; three sisters, Marianne Siebert, Madison, Marti
(Greg) Sowka, Stevens Point, and Joan (Greg) Bennett, Mequon; his mother-in-law,
Lois Knope, Stevens Point; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Mike) Swanson, Portage,
and Anne (Tom) Corcoran, Stevens Point; one brother-in-law, David Knope,
Pueblo, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Michael
Patrick.
