Plover resident Jordan Moore presents Officer Seth Pionke with $100 for the Plover Police Department’s K-9 fund.
Moore, 8, donated money he’d received for his birthday. In return, he received a certificate of appreciation for his donation.
“We cannot thank you enough, Jordan, for this selfless contribution,” the Plover Police Dept. wrote on their Facebook page.
Police Chief Dan Ault noted Moore’s generosity a few days later, calling him “an amazing young man”, also referencing the “selflessness” not typically seen in one so young.
“That’s not the kind of thing we expect, you know — a kid giving up his birthday money — but it was a great show of character,” Ault said.
Moore’s donation brings the department’s fundraiser to just over $35,000 to fund the village’s first K-9 unit. The department continues to take donations and sell fundraiser t-shirts in an effort to reach it’s $50,000 goal.
