Arvin L. Kleinschmidt

Arvin L. Kleinschmidt, 85, Wisconsin Rapids, father of a Stevens Point woman, died Monday, June 27, 2016, at Theda Care Medical Center in Waupaca.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Timothy Wenger officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in the town of Grand Rapids in Wood County, with military rites provided by American Legion Post 9.
Visitation will be at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, and at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the services.

Mr. Kleinschmidt was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Marshfield, a son
of the late Arthur and Cleo (Godard) Kleinschmidt.
He was married to Mildred J. TerMaat Sept. 18, 1954, in
Wisconsin Rapids. They were married for 58 years until her death in 2012.
He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where he served
with the Veterans of the Cross. He was a long-time member of the Lutheran
Laymen’s League. He volunteered with the Orphan Grain Train and with Peace
Campus Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a
member of the American Legion Post 9. He attended the Honor Flight to
Washington, D.C., in 2014.
He worked at Consolidated Paper as a diemaker until his
retirement.
Survivors include five children, Keith Kleinschmidt, Austin,
Texas, Bonny (William) Parker, Maple Grove, Minn., Roma (Dave) McClyman,
Stevens Point, Cydelle Yager, Winston Salem, N.C., and Ellen (Carl Recksiedler)
Kleinschmidt, Bloomington, Minn.; one sister, LaVada Babicky; seven
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Todd.
