Plover Fastpitch 13’s Secure Another Tourney Win

Girls impress at the 2016 Plover Fastpitch Summer Tournament

The Plover Fastpitch 13’s Nationals won the 2016 Plover Fastpitch Summer Tournament, held June 24-26 at the Woyak Complex, by going an impressive 6-1 to claim the tournament’s 14U championship.

In bracket play, the Plover 13’s beat the Merrill 13’s 6-4, Point Fastpitch Gold 16-3 and Marshfield 9-0.

In the semi-final game, the Plover 13’s lost to the Plover 14’s, 5-1, but then beat the Rapids Rage 7-2 in a losers bracket game, securing their place in the 14U championship.

In the first championship game, the Plover 13’s beat the Plover 14’s 6-2. Later, with the double elimination format, the Plover 13’s defeated the Plover 14’s in the second championship game 10-4, cinching the 14U Championship.

Tournament Highlights for the Plover Fastpitch 13’s include team batting average of .341, on-base percentage .393, slugging percentage .409. Team pitching: 2.23 ERA, 30 strikeouts, opponent batting average .208.

The Plover Fastpitch 13’s roster includes #5 Ashlyn Chandler, #17 Jenna Eilers, #13 Olivia Schustek, #34 Madi Hintz, #27 Haley Raflik, #22 Erica Pronschinske, #12 Hannah Melum, #10 Jenna Hoerter, #14 Kennedy VanderLoop, #11 Jaden Jones and #00 Maddie Kvatek.

Plover Fastpitch 13’s coaches are Todd VanderLoop, John Jones, Nate Schustek, Shawn Eilers and Scott Chandler.
