Letter: WOB Class Success Due to Community Support

To the Editor-

I apologize for the tardiness of this letter as the end of the school year came and went in a whirlwind.

I would like to take a minute to express my deepest appreciation to all my students in what was a life time memory for me in an incredible effort in raising a phenomenal amount of money to donate to a community program that benefits so many.

However, I would also like to express that same deep appreciation to this community and the individuals and local businesses who supported these students and myself in our authentic learning project. I would personally like to thank Brandi Makuski for responding to a student’s phone call and becoming a part of our class and an individual who greatly impacted learning and the outcome of this project! Jeff Rice from the Wellness Institute for speaking to the class and discussing marketing, giving students confidence and ideas which really brought success. I learned so much while facilitating this learning process.

I learned about my individual students, little quirks, personalities, strengths and weaknesses and what an honor it was working with them. I learned a lot about my teaching style. Even after 23 years, next year will be my first year, again. I love working with kids. They are fun, amazing, creative and challenging ( in a good way). I love my career and being a member of this community.

Thank you, to each and every one of you for supporting the class. Together, public education, community, kids, businesses and individuals: we can accomplish so many good things. What a great lesson these kids have experienced and learned. What a great community! Please continue to support our kids, public education and support our local businesses!
