A new shuttle bus has been gifted to the Boys and Girls Club.

Thanks to a hefty donation from Jon Vandehey, president of Mid-State Truck Service in Plover, his wife Annette and his friend Jerry Fahrner, a local businessman, the club’s Plover location has a new 14-passenger bus.

Vandehey said he and Farhner became aware the club was in need of a new shuttle during the club’s Taste of Wine and Cheese event in April.

“It was one of our wishes we had up on the wall,” said Kevin Quevillon, executive director for the club. They (Vandehey and Farhner) pulled it down and said, ‘we’ll get you this’, just like that.”

“It was about 30 seconds of conversation,” Vandehey. “We just decided it was something we wanted to do.”

The Diamond Coach bus has a backup camera, individual seat belts, room for luggage and does not require a CDL to drive, Vandehey said. The donation was facilitated by the Village of Plover, and the shuttle’s wrap was donated by Stratford Signs.

Quevillon said the new shuttle will allow the Plover Boys and Girls Club to pick up kids from school, take them on field trips and even visits to area colleges. He added about 500 local kids use their facilities each day during the summer.
