Lions Kick In for PoCo K-9 Unit

The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office is $1,000 closer towards the cost of a new K-9 dog, thanks to a hefty donation from Junction City Lions.
The group — Juntion City Lions Ron Dickrell, Roger Pierson, Jim Kawlewski, Bob Ornowski and John Haydock — gathered for a check presentation on June 29, with Deputy Dan Wachowiak and his K-9 partner Baco and Jason White and his K-9 partner Lady.
Officials from Portage Co. are planning to retire Baco later this year due to illness.
“He’s got good days and bad,” said Wachowiak of Baco. “Today is a good day.”
