Along with his surname, the shirt also bears the state statute — Statute 62.09(12) — which legally created the position of city attorney under law and also outlines the responsibilities of the position.

The Stevens Point Common Council, which is comprised of 11 council members from each of the city’s aldermanic districts, walked in the 2015 parade for the first time, but this year even more city officials joined in.

Armed with candy and each donning a personalized City of Stevens Point t-shirt, City Clerk John Moe and Treasurer Corey Ladick — whose shirt bore a dollar sign — along with other city employees participated.

“It’s nice to see we’re getting more interest from people who work for the city,” said Mayor Mike Wiza. “I think the first year we did it, they were maybe a little apprehensive and wanted to see what the public’s response would be before they participated. But the response has been great.”
