LETTER: Longtime Voter Sitting Out Presidential Election

To the Editor-

I am an independent voter who has always voted for the best presidential candidate that year.

This will be the first time that I will not case a vote for President of the United States since FDR (Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt). I have voted for Democrats like Truman and Kennedy and Republicans like Nixon and Reagan.

The two candidates, Hillary and Trump are so not qualified that I don’t want it said I voted for either one of them.

I believe the candidate should have [previously] been elected either mayor or a city, or governor of a state. [President] Obama got elected with the least qualifications of any president in history — look at his dismal record. I am happy to say I did not vote for him.

Look at the records of some other recent presidents. Nixon hired a bunch of burglars. Clinton used the oval office as a brothel. Bush, Jr. was at the bottom of his class in college.

Why can’t we find someone like Washington, Lincoln or FDR? There has to be someone better than Hillary or Trump. It makes me glad I was born when I was.
