Bat Kid Wanted for Guns N’ Hoses Game

City Times Staff
The Guns N’ Hoses planning committee is seeking bat kids for its Aug. 27 charity softball game.
Applicants should be between the ages of nine and 12 and live inside Portage County. Bat kids will be responsible for retrieving baseball bats for either Team Law Enforcement — the “Guns” or Team Firefighter — the “Hoses”.
Anyone interested in applying for the spots should include the child’s name, age and contact phone number. Entries are taken via private message on the group’s Facebook page. Bat kids will receive free lunch and a Guns N’ Hoses t-shirt.
The Guns N’ Hoses softball game is an exhibition competition between local firefighters and law enforcement. The third annual game will be held at Leo “Cub” Mancheski Field in Bukolt Park.
Opening ceremonies start at 10:30 AM, which includes introduction of teams and special guest umpires, as well as the ceremonial “first pitch” thrown by veterans from various eras of military service.
The game starts at 11 AM. Admission and parking are free.
