“All the money stays in Central Wisconsin.”

The fourth annual Aim for a Cure is coming to Stevens Point.

The annual cancer research fundraiser had previously been held at Blackhawk Archers in Polonia, but this year will be held Bucks & Bulls Archery, which features an indoor archery range, located at 3296 Church St. on Aug. 6 and 7.

A Celebration of Color 5K run/walk has been added to this year’s event on Aug. 6, with registration at 8:15 AM, and a 9 AM kickoff from Ben Franklin Jr. High. The route travels along the Green Circle Trail and ends in the parking lot of Bucks & Bulls. The entry fee is $25.

The entry fee for an indoor archery tournament is also $25. To participate in both, the fee is reduced to $40. All participants will receive a t-shirt.

The indoor archery tournament will be held Aug. 6 and 7, with multiple time slots available both days. A raffle will be held in the store at 3 PM on Aug. 7.

“We’re raffling off some bows, a kayak, a whole bunch of archery equipment,” said Gary Hintz, owner of Bucks & Bulls.

Hintz added several other family-friendly activities will also be available.

“We’re going to have a bouncy house in the parking lot and a cookout, so it’s more than just archery; it’ll be like a little carnival in the parking lot,” Hintz said, adding table space and bathrooms will be available in a vacant storefront next door.

Special guests at the event include Jake and Greg Miller, stars of the show “The Hunt”, who will be on site Aug. 6 from 10 AM to 4 PM, and fellow Sportsman Channel star Melissa Bachman, from “Winchester Deadly Passions”, who will appear Aug. 7 from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Proceeds from the event will benefit cancer research at Marshfield Clinic.

“All the money stays in Central Wisconsin,” Hintz said. “We raised $3,000 last year and we’ll probably triple that this year because of the new location.”

For more information on registration or volunteering at the event, contact Laura Lauer at [email protected] or call (715) 340-0671.
