DAR will knit for active servicemen through Trees from Home program

Nay-osh-ing Chapter, Plover, Daughters of the American Revolution plans to contribute to the local nonprofit organization Trees from Home, which sends Christmas packages to soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Doris Dahlke, Nay-osh-ing Chapter Trees From Home chair, ordered nine boxes (24 trees in each box) to be decorated by chapter members this year. She is seeking volunteers with knitting skills to help make wool helmet liners and requests the contribution of phone cards and blank Christmas cards the troops can use to send to family and friends, all of which are included in the boxes when the trees are sent.
Approximately 2,500 packages are expected to be sent again this year.
If someone interested in helping can’t knit or contribute other items for us to send, the cost for shipping each box is approximately $30, so there is always a need for monetary donations to cover the shipping costs. Call Doris Dahlke at 715-693-3654 for more information.
