Sherry L. Zei

Sherry L. Zei, 67, Almond, a retired teacher, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer.
A Celebration of Life service for Sherry Zei, 67, Almond, who died March 31, 2016, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Lettie Jensen Community Center on Main Street in Amherst.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday to share memories at the Lettie Jensen Community Center.

Mrs. Zei was born Oct. 23, 1948, in Norwich, N.Y., a
daughter of Florence (Nelson) Finney and the late William Finney. Her family
moved to Crivitz while she was a child. She graduated from Crivitz High School
in 1966. She participated in dance, music, swimming and ice skating in Crivitz
and was a member of her family’s “Crivitz Ski Cats” performing show.
She received a bachelor’s degree in art education from the University
of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1970.
She began her career teaching elementary school in Two
Rivers from 1970 to 1975.
She was married to Joseph Zei June 21, 1975, in Crivitz.
The couple settled in Stevens Point, before building a log
home in Almond and moving there in 1980.
She began teaching in 1975 in Wisconsin Rapids, first at the
junior high school and the last 20 years at Lincoln High School, retiring in
2006.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph, Almond; her mother,
Florence Finney, Crivitz; two brothers, Michael Finney, Green Bay, and Mark
(Kris) Finney, Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Sue (Bernie) Rocheleau,
Green Bay.
