Evelyn M. Wachtl

Evelyn M. “Cotey” Wachtl, 98, Wausau, mother of a Stevens
Point woman, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at Benedictine Living Center in
Wausau.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, at
The Church of St. Anne in Wausau, with the Rev. Alan Burkhardt presiding.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Wausau.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until
the Mass.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Mrs. Wachtl was born May 21, 1918, in Merrill, a daughter of
the late Percy and Ella (Zueske) Cotey.
She was married to Kenneth Wachtl May 4, 1946, in Merrill.
He died Sept. 3, 1956.
She was a self-employed beautician for more than 45 years,
operating Evelyn’s Beauty Salon until 1981. She continued at various salons
until her retirement at the age of 70.
Survivors include four children, Nancy (Peter) Kroll,
Madison, Patrick Wachtl, Madison, David Wachtl, Tomahawk, and Cassie (Ron
Klein) Wachtl, Stevens Point; one sister, Gail Diver, San Diego, Calif.; two
grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nina Krueger
and Helen Harr; and one brother, Dean Cotey.
