SPFD Hires One, Promotes One

The Stevens Point Fire Department last week hired a probationary firefighter.
Ryan Monaghan, 25, is from Appleton. He was offered a probationary position with SPFD after being interview by the Stevens Point Police and Fire Commission on July 12. The commission unanimously approved his job offer.
Jake Laack, also 25, was also promoted to a full-time firefighter after serving one year as a probationary employee with the department. Laack, a Tomahawk native, went to school in Appleton and was sworn in last August.
Chief Bob Finn said the department is now fully staffed, with 13 firefighters/EMTs on each shift.
