SPASH Students Attend FCCLA National Leadership Conference in San Diego

Fourteen Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter members recently attended the 2016 FCCLA National Leadership Conference held in San Diego, Calif., July 3-7. The conference brought together more than 8,000 student leaders and advisers to hear inspiring speakers, expand leadership skills and explore career pathways.
The theme for this year’s conference was “EMPOWER,” and attendees focused on making the right choices and being a positive force within their family, their school, FCCLA and their community.
SPASH members also competed at the national level in their qualifying competitive event from state competition. Members participated in the following categories: LeeAnn Przbylski, Career Investigation; Emma Moore, Chapter Service Project Portfolio; Cassidy Crunkilton and Serena Iwanski, Illustrated Talk; Hayley Clark, Interior Design; Jordyn Grezenski, Leadership; Callyn Diamond and Madison Netzinger, Life Event Planning; Cassie Demski, Lilly Firkus and Kaitlyn Stanton, National Program in Action; Brooke Shefchik and Carly Fix, National Program in Action; and Kiara Jamrosz, Recycle and Redesign.
The members received seven events gold medals and two silver.
The SPASH FCCLA members gained skills and knowledge at the conference that will enhance their future education and careers, strengthen their family unit and encourage cooperative action in their community.
