PoDS to Hold Midnight Fun Run

City Times Staff
The city’s newest charter school is holding its first-ever nighttime fun run event in October.
The Point of Discovery School (PoDS) is currently in the planning stages for a series of events at the school, to include a late-night youth run, a 5-K run, and other events on Oct. 22.
According to a memo from Dan Lathrop, lead teacher at the school, and Jen Zach, president of the school’s governing board, the nighttime runs will be illuminated and well-staffed by parents and volunteers. The 5-K will take runners through Pfiffner Pioneer Park after midnight, which requires city approval.
Representatives of the school will appear before the Stevens Point Parks Commission on Aug. 3 to further explain the event. Commissioners will discuss and vote on the approval.
The parks commission meets at 6:30 PM on Wed., Aug. 3 in the Stevens Point Rec Center, 2442 Sims Avenue. The public is welcome to attend.
