Barbara Ann Firkus, 74, Wausau, mother of a Stevens Point
man, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston.


Visitation will be at the Helke
Funeral Home in Wausau from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, with an Eagles’
memorial service beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Mrs. Firkus was born Oct. 3, 1941, in Wauwatosa, a daughter
of the late John and Clara (Ratkowski) Schmidt. She grew up in Milwaukee and
later moved to Galloway.


She was currently living in Wausau where she worked at
Marathon Electric until her retirement.


She was an active member of the Eagles Club and past
volunteer at North Central Health Center.


Survivors include nine children, Veronica (Armondo) Alvarado,
Hudson, Ronald (Terry) Livingston, Stevens Point, Elizabeth (Mark) King,
Plainfield, Patricia (Joe) Dorgan, Merrill, Vinson Firkus, Menominee, Joanne
Firkus, Weston, and Janet Hoerman, Joyce Firkus and Jodi Jensen, all of Wausau;
one brother, Donald (Barb) Schmidt, Birnamwood; one sister, Betty Powalisz,
Milwaukee; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her former husband,
Vincent J. Firkus.


She was also preceded in death by six brothers and two
sisters.
