Darlene Cecelia Nicolaou, 65, of Stevens Point, died peacefully with her family and loved ones at her bedside on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.

She was born on December 20, 1950, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Anthony and Laverne Ostrowski.

Darlene was a wife for 30 years, devoted mother of three sons and loving grandmother. She grew up in Chicago, lived in Greece for two years, raised her family in the Chicago suburbs and spent the past 15 years living in her own home in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

She cherished her family, friends, God and all the little critters that called her backyard home. Darlene was also a very talented painter, finishing dozens of paintings that hang on every wall of her home and on the walls of all her sons’ homes. She not only enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, but was also a published cookbook author. Her books are still allowing her family, loved ones and fans to continue enjoying her favorite recipes.

Survivors include 3 children: Bill Nicolaou (and his long-time girlfriend, Corissa Kasmira) of Madison, WI, Jim Nicolaou (and his wife, Ginger Nicolaou) of Lombard, Ill., and Greg Nicolaou of Stevens Point, Wis. She is further survived by one granddaughter, Georgia Nicolaou; and her ex-husband and good friend, Nick Nicolaou.

The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point for all their loving care of Darlene.

Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be assisting the family.
