Norman A. Schubert

Norman A. “Norm” Schubert, 84, Stevens Point, formerly of Hancock, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield. Burial will be in the Hancock Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 p.m. Wednesday until the services.
A memorial has been established.

Mr. Schubert was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Richford, a son of the
late Arnold R. and Augusta W. (Riebe) Schubert. As a 1949 graduate of Westfield
High School, he earned medals in track at state.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the
Korean Conflict and received a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged.
He was married to Nancy Wandrey May 28, 1955, in Wautoma.
He worked as a rural mail carrier for 30 years.
He played softball for Richford as a young man and then on a
senior league in Mesa, Ariz., where he and his wife wintered for 24 years.
He was a member of the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department,
the American Legion Post 343 and St. Peter Lutheran Church in Richford.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Schubert, Stevens Point; six
children, Sylvia Sigourney, Coloma, Kathy (Dean) Buffington, Appleton, David
(Pam) Schubert, Wisconsin Rapids, Mary (Mike) Resch, Plover, and Bob Schubert
and Mark (Stacy) Schubert, both of Hancock; 12 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Adeline Bray;
and one son-in-law, Ed Sigourney.
