Raymond J. Hocking, 69, Amherst, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Burial will be in Liberty Corners Cemetery in the town of Buena Vista.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Mr. Hocking was born Dec. 21, 1946, in Hinsdale, Ill., a son
of the late Phlauris and Minnie (Hacker) Hocking. He grew up in Bancroft where
his parents settled on a farm. He attended Tri-County Elementary School in the
Plainfield area and graduated from Tri-County High School in 1965.

He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP)
for a year.

He was inducted into the U.S. Air Force June 6, 1966. He was
stationed in Vietnam during the conflict. He was honorably discharged on March
6, 1972.

Following his time of service, he returned to UWSP and
completed a bachelor’s degree in business.

He was married to Cheryl M. Worden Dec. 14, 1968, in Buena
Vista.

He worked for North Central Community Action Weatherization
Program in Wisconsin Rapids for 37 years before retiring as a program director.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Hocking; two children,
Michele (Travis) Hall and Kevin (Jen) Hocking; four siblings, Margaret Hocking,
Roy Hocking, Richard (Nancy) Hocking and Linda (Dale) McLarnan; and many nieces
and nephews.
