Judge Robert Shannon was sworn in on Aug. 1 to his first full-term as Portage Co. Circuit Court Judge, surrounded by his family and friends.
Shannon was presented by a bagpiper before the standing-room-only crowd, which was comprised of courthouse employees, friends and area business leaders invited by Shannon. No public notice of the swearing-in was released by the judge.
Shannon was first appointed to the seat to fill the remainder of Judge John V. Finn’s term last August by Gov. Scott Walker. He was later elected to the full term in April, following a four-way primary and beating challenger and Portage Co. Clerk of Courts Trish Baker by a final tally of 12,551 to 10,515.
“Welcome everyone — your presence is important to me and my family,” Shannon said.
Shannon was introduced by Dr. Matthew Riordan, who Shannon called “my very close friend”. He was then sworn in by his brother Judge John Shannon.
