For the City Times

Central Rivers Farmshed will be showcasing its farmers’ market programming throughout the month of August.

Aug. 6, 9:30 AM

Chef Andy Dassow of Christian’s Bistro will be featured for the August Chef on the Square Demo at the
Stevens Point Farmers’ Market. He’ll be showcasing how to make goat cheese-pesto-quinoa-stuffed
local tomatoes.

Aug. 20, 9 AM – Noon

Free activities for children include face painting, a veggie photo booth, games and educational resources for families. Activities will be provided by UW-Extension.

Aug. 6 and 20

EBT Double Value Days: an incentive program coordinated by Farmshed. FoodShare recipients can come to the Farmshed/EBT booth at the Stevens Point Farmers Market to swipe their EBT card and receive up to $10 extra in EBT tokens to use at the market on eligible food items.

The program encourages low-income community members to shop at the market for fresh, local products including fruits, vegetables, meat and eggs. The EBT program is available each Saturday, June through October, from 9 AM to 2 PM — or until vendors sell out — at the Downtown Square Farmers Market.
