Paddle Poker Run to Replace Junk Boat Races on McDill

City Times Staff
Officials from the Lake District say they are holding a paddle poker run on Aug. 27.
The poker run replaces a previously-planned junk boat race that garnered little interest from the public.
McDill Pond will be hosting a paddle poker run from 11 AM through 4 PM on Saturday, Aug. 27.
“Anything that can be paddled is welcome to be used, and local kayak rental companies suggest making reservations ahead of time,” said Krista Olson, president of the McDill Lake District — an area comprised of 176 homes surrounding, and partially caring for, the lake.
Launch and poker hand pickup will occur at the harvester landing, located at 4001 Patch St., at the waterfront of the disc golf course. Poker hands are $10 per person, or three hands for $25.
Stops along the route will offer food items for purchase. McDill Pond will be “slow, no wake” all day.
Proceeds benefit McDill Pond projects for nesting boxes and fighting Aquatic Invasive Species.
