Primary No Sweat for Mallison

Portage Co. Supervisor emerged victorious on Tuesday’s primary election for Portage Co. Treasurer.
Mallison is running for the seat as a Democrat. His opponent in the Aug. 9 primary was Stephanie Stokes, current Portage Co. Treasurer. who withdrew her name from the consideration too late to have her name removed from the ballot.
Stokes’ office has been under investigation for unknown reasons since 2015. She withdrew from the race in July, citing health reasons.
The final vote tally on Tuesday night put Tom Mallison in the win column with 3,123 votes. Stephanie Stokes garnered 1,240 votes. The official vote will be verified at next week’s canvas board.
Mallison will now face challenger Jeff Presley, also a Portage Co. Supervisor, who is running as an independent, at the November election.
