Patrick J. McGinley

Patrick J. McGinley, 73, Plover, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, with the Rev. Ed Shuttleworth officiating. Burial will be in the St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Plover from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, and at the church from 9 a.m. Thursday until the Mass.
The family asks that memorials be given in his name to any
youth sports organization in the Stevens Point and Plover area.

Mr. McGinley was born June 29, 1943, in Newark, N.J., a son
of the late James and Mary (Healey) McGinley. He attended St. Michael Grade
School and graduated from Essex Catholic High School in Newark.
He then attended Rutgers University in Newark.
He served in the New Jersey National Guard for a number of
years, obtaining the rank of specialist fourth class.
He was married to Carolyn E. Mulvey Feb. 5, 1966, in West
Orange, N.J.
After the marriage the couple settled in Morristown, N.J.
They then moved to the Plover-Whiting area in 1972.
He worked for Sentry Insurance for 41 years until his
retirement in 2002.
He was instrumental in the development of youth sports in
the Plover-Whiting area, coaching baseball, softball and basketball. He served
on the Board of Directors for many years with the Plover/Whiting Youth
Athletics and was also on the Finance Committee for St. Bronislava Catholic
Church.
After retiring, he continued his volunteer time, serving on
the Board of Directors at the St. Vincent de Paul store.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carolyn, Plover; five
children, Catherine (Joseph) Cullen, Helena, Mont., P.J. (Diana) McGinley,
Middleton, Michael (Jennifer) McGinley and Maureen (Tim) Glodosky, both of
Plover, and Mary (Erik) McGinley-Miller, La Crosse; one brother, James McGinley,
Verona, N.J.; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Helen Tweedy.
