Robert J. Smiley, 82, Stevens Point, Friday, Aug. 26, 2016,
at his home.

A private family service will be held. Interment will be in
Forest Cemetery in Stevens Point.

Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory
of Bob Smiley.

Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point assisted with
arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.

Mr. Smiley was born March 11, 1934,in Stevens Point, a son
of the late Edward and Anastasia (Polaczek) Smiley. He attended local schools
and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1953.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology conservation from Central
State Teachers College (now the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point) in 1957.

He taught in Rhinelander for one year before being drafted
into the U.S. Army. He was inducted Aug. 14, 1958, served during the Berlin
Crisis, and was honorably discharged on Aug. 3, 1962.

He was marriedto Ruth Saris June 8, 1957. They celebrated
their 59th wedding anniversary this year.

He started a career working for Consolidated Papers in Biron
under Research and Development for 10 years. He returned to Stevens Point;
transferring to the Stevens Point Mill and retired in 1994 after 34 years as product
development manager.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, Stevens Point; three sons,
Michael (Pamela), Stevens Point, Timothy (Mary Jo), Plover, and William
(Jennifer), Rosholt; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Edwin
Smiley; one brother, Eugene Smiley; and one sister, June Meyers.
