Photo of the Day: Ready, Set, Go

More than 1,000 public school teachers and staff — many wearing their respective school’s colors — file out of the SPASH auditorium on Tuesday following the annual “Opening Day Kickoff” held by the district.
Superintendent Craig Gerlach, who was hired earlier this year, had already met with much of the staff but the “Kickoff Day” was designed to ensure the entire district had Gerlach’s four main goals in mind for the year.
Gerlach’s four goals are: developing a strategic plan; building bridges of communication between his office and the school board, constituents and staff; adopting and implementing a capital improvement plan; and continuing progress on employee compensation models.
Gerlach said the latter goal was among the “most important things we have to do this year, because you deserve that.”
The first day of public school is Thursday, Sept. 1.
