Morey’s Donates $5,000 to PRFD, K-9

Morey’s Bar presented one big check to law enforcement and firefighters on Thursday.
Brenda Coté, owner of Morey’s, presented firefighters from the Park Ridge Fire Department and the Portage County Sheriff’s Office with a check for just over $5K.
To be exact, $5,111.
The money, according to Mark Czech, was the proceeds from Morey’s annual golf outing. The event was held at the Wisconsin River Golf Club on Aug. 20.
Czech, along with Coté, and Annette Glodowski, serve on the golf outing committee for Morey’s Bar.
“This is the sixth year for the outing,” says Glowdowski. “We try to pick an organization that works with us, and these guys are awesome.”
Firefighters in Park Ridge have been raising funds for new equipment, to include new uniforms and a new defibrillator. Officials from the sheriff’s office work the fundraising circuit throughout the year to bring in money for the K-9 unit, which operates almost entirely on contributed funds.
The check was presented at Morey’s Bar and received by Deputy John White and Lady, as well as Deputy Dan Wachowiak and Baco of the Portage County Sheriff Office K-9 Unit, and along with firefighters Chris Villareal, Pete Jacoby, and Chief Brian Lepper of the Park Ridge Fire Department.
