Ralph C. Hood Jr.
Ralph C. Hood Jr., 86, Waupaca, father of an Almond woman,
died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at his home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, with military
honors at 5 p.m. at Maple Crest Funeral Home in Waupaca. Burial will take place
at a later date.

Mr. Hood was born May 24, 1930, in Bessemer City, N.C., a
son of the late Ralph C. Hood Sr. and Virginia (Ratterree) Hood.
He was married to Joan Bell Sept. 1, 1956, in Marquette, Mich.
They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 22-1/2 years, serving in
the Korean and Vietnam wars.
After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Northern
Michigan University in Marquette, Mich., as a maintenance supervisor from 1970
to 1975.
In May 1975 he, his wife and their children moved to the
Waupaca area where he worked for the School District of Waupaca as the building
and grounds supervisor, retiring in June 1992.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 1037 in Waupaca.
Survivors include his wife, Joan M. Hood, Waupaca; four
children, Jon Hood, Waupaca, Kathy (Barry) Jacowski, Almond, David (Carie) Hood,
Green Lake, and Jerry Hood, Waupaca; one sister, Charlotte Cox, Corvallis, Ore.;
one brother, John (Janet) Hood, Prescott, Ark.; three grandchildren; and one
great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and
Frank Hood; and one sister, Marqurite Cleek.
