Rookies softball team advances to Nationals

A local Men’s Slow Pitch Softball team will host a
fundraiser to help with a trip to Oklahoma City for the ASA Men’s Slow Pitch
Championship Series.
Rookies Sports Pub of Stevens Point qualified for the
Championship Series by placing third at the ASA Class D Northern National
Tournament in Welch, Minn., over Labor Day weekend. After opening with a loss,
Rookies won nine straight games to get back to third place in the 49-team
tournament. They now qualify for the 16-team Championship Series. The top four
teams from each National Tournament qualified for the Championship Series.
The fundraiser will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at
Rookies Sports Pub. The event will start at 7 p.m. and will include 50/50
raffles, a softball bat raffle, along with several other raffles for the
evening.
Any questions about the event or anyone willing to
donate items to raffle off to help Rookies make the trip can contact Adam
Shirek via email at [email protected]
