Stevens Point receives DOT Alternative Transportation project grant

The city of Stevens Point recently received $390,141 of federal funds through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) to fund a community-wide infrastructure project that will add 13.16 miles of marked and signed bicycle lanes, urban shoulders and shared lane marking on existing collector and arterial streets.
Stevens Point’s project is one of 33 projects and $15 million of approved TAP funding for the 2016-20 program cycle.
The Stevens Point Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee learned about the TAP grant in early December of 2015 and worked diligently to meet the deadline at the end of January.
