The Stevens Point Area Senior High boys soccer team improved its season record to 6-0 with a non-conference win over Chippewa Falls on Sept. 10, with a final score of 6-3.

SPASH wasted no time lighting up the board with junior forward Keondre Porter finding the back of the net off the assist from senior Patrick Hefferan with 1:17 gone in the first half.
McKenon Diekroger followed that with a goal at the 3:39 mark of the period to put SPASH up 2-0. The assist went to midfielder Joey Dorgan.

SPASH scored twice more in the first stanza with goals coming from Clayton Morey — assisted by Jarett Jones– and Porter’s second goal of the half, that one unassisted.

The Cardinals, on their heels most of the game managed one goal before the break to trail 4-1 at half.

“We knew it was a big game coming in,” said Dorgan. “Chippewa is on top of their conference and this was huge for seedings. I thought we created a lot of scoring opportunities but definitely could improve defensively as a unit.”

The Panther scored twice in the second half with a goal at 8:04 seconds from midfielder Nate Napiwocki (assisted by Keonte Porter) and an unassisted goal from Dorgan to round out the Panther scoring.

The Panthers sit atop the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 3-0 record and return to conference play on Tues., Sept. 13 when they host Wisconsin Rapids at the PCYS Complex. Kickoff is slated for 7 PM. SPASH then travels to Merrill on Thurs., Sept. 15 for a 4:30 PM contest.
