City Closes Hoover, Industrial Park Drive
City Times Staff
Area motorists on Monday found an unexpected road closure on the east side of town.
Hoover Rd. closed Monday morning, from Industrial Park Dr. to Woodward Dr., so crews could do some ancillary utility work in preparation for the upcoming construction of the railroad overpass on Hoover Rd./Country Club Drive.
The closure will last for “several weeks”, according to a press release from the city.
“The intersection of Industrial Park Dr. and Hoover Ave. will not be closed,” the release reads in part. “A signed detour will use County Hwy. HH, I-39 and Hwy. 66.”
Joerns Dr. will be closed to traffic just east of Hoover Ave. for the same duration.
Public Utilities Director Joel Lemke said on Monday due to “crossed wires in communication with the parties involved”, the public was not notified of the closure in advance.
Lemke said crews were moving utilities buried underneath the roadway before construction on the overpass itself would begin.
