New Exhibit to Open at RAC

For the City Times
An invitational exhibit is opening at the Riverfront Arts Center.
Titled “Unlikely Pairs”, the show features artists Rosalie Beck and Kim Vaughter. The exhibit runs Sept. 16 through Oct. 23., with an opening reception Friday, Sept. 16 from 5 PM to 7 PM.
Vaughter’s work includes acrylic paintings and fabric sculptures. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a BFA in painting and art history, and just recently completed her second degree in graphic design. She now resides in La Crosse, Wis.
Beck’s work includes a series of still life oil paintings. She has an MFA in painting and drawing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and currently resides in Milwaukee, where she teaches at the university and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
Together, the two artist’s work is complementary yet contradictory; a mixture of the traditional and contemporary, still life and movement, reality and imagination.
Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday 11 AM to 5 PM., and Saturday and Sunday 11 AM to 3 PM.
