Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater (cwACT) has announced it will present Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” at Sentry’s @1800 Theater just in time for Halloween.
Performances are October 21-23 and 28-29, and are rated PG-13. Shows include special effects including a strobe light, smoke, and haze.
“Into the Woods” is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, based on the book by James Lapine. It debuted on Broadway in 1987, and ran for 764 performances. The show has also spawned a big screen movie.
Main characters come from classic fairy tales like “Cinderella”, “Rapunzel”, “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Little Red Riding Hood”, and are tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife’s quest to begin a family.
Director Kelly Schoonaert said the show will be “funny, poignant, inspirational, forces us to confront our human
perceptions of good and evil, and does all of that in a way that is beautifully entertaining and clever.”
Tickes are $9 for children and $18 for adults. For ticket information, call the cwACT Box Office at (715) 498-2339 or go to www.cwtickets.com.
Sentry’s @1800 Theater is located at 1800 Northpoint Drive in northern Stevens Point.
