Elks Club will hold dinner to benefit Lions Camp
To the Editor:
You will love to participate in the upcoming all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Elks Club, 1132 Clark St., Stevens Point. Adults will eat for $10, children 12 and younger for $7. This also includes a side dish of salad.
This event is sponsored by the Stevens Point Evening Lions Club. We Evening Lions are responsible for 200 dinners, and we are hoping for a large turnout. There is no problem with parking as there is a large parking lot adjacent to the Elks Building.
This invitation is a little early so put a note on your refrigerator. We will be running ads two weeks before Oct. 20 in local newspapers. The event is open to the public. If anyone wants a ticket beforehand, call Lion Ralph Woyak at 715-344-3219.
The proceeds from the spaghetti dinner go to the state Lions Camp at Rosholt. If you have never been to the Lions Camp, I would suggest you put this on the front burner. The camp is located one mile east of Rosholt on Highway 66 and one mile north on County Highway A.
In August, the Lions Camp held an open house for celebrating 60 years since it was started. It started out with 20 acres of land and no buildings. Today it is almost 500 acres with a 50-acre private lake and almost 20 buildings. It has a regional building for recycling eyeglasses from a number of states. These eyeglasses go all over the world to less fortunate people who cannot afford eyeglasses.
