SPASH girls cross country team aims for continued improvement

After missing out on a trip to the WIAA Division 1 State
Meet last season, the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) girls cross
country team is focusing on taking one meet at a time this season.
The Panthers return an experienced group from last year’s
team that was ranked near the top of the Division 1 rankings all season, before
they finished third at Sectionals to miss out on qualifying for state.
The ninth-ranked Panthers opened this season by finishing
second at the Neenah Invite Sept. 1 and then won the SPASH Invitational at
Standing Rocks County Park Saturday, Sept. 10, while they will be back in
action at the Smiley Invitational at Tribute Golf Course in Wausau at 10:35
a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.
